DGST appoints 24 new PSCOs and 9 mentors

16 March 2018: The Secretary of the Directorate General for Sea Transportation, Capt Rudiana, formally appointed 24 successful candidates as Port State Control Officers on Friday 16 Marche 2018. He also appointed 9 PSC Mentors.  The PSCOs strengthen Indonesian inspection capacity which was recently enhanced with the formalisation of national regulations to clarify the basis and powers for PSC inspections.

We congratulate all the newly appointed PSCOs and mentors.

The majority of the new PSCOs have participated in training and evaluations conducted by DGST in cooperation with the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) between 2009-2017 under the ITSAP program.   Most recently, Mr Tat Yeung, AMSA, delivered the latest in a long term program of PSC training/mentoring exercises in Makassar and Samarinda in Sept 2017 while Mr Edward Ip delivered PSC induction training in Jakarta, also in Sept 2017.

The nine newly-appointed mentors have also completed other AMSA-sponsored training over the past few years.

The team from AMSAT International provided logistic and technical support for the training.
