Indonesian Non-Convention Vessel Standard (NCVS)

The Indonesian Ministry of Transportation (KEMENHUB) has launched the comprehensive Non-Convention Vessel Standard (NCVS) for Indonesian-flagged vessels under 500 GT. This major reform was supported by the Australian Government with funding and technical advice.  The Directorate General of Sea Transportation (DGST) was the primary agency and received technical support from the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA).

AMSAT International managed the day-to-day development of the NCVS over the past 4 years, facilitating stakeholder workshops, technical drafting, translation and socialisation.

The NCVS was officially launched by the Minister, H.E. E. E. Mangindaan, at a ceremony in Jakarta on 11 December 2012 attended by his Australian counterpart Hon. Anthony Albanese and Ambassadors from ASEAN and neighbouring countries.  The NCVS will become legally enforceable from 1 January 2013. See Indonesian Kemenhub website.
